ABOUT US

Seawatch Inc. was founded in 1980 to provide trained professional Fisheries Observers to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for domestic and foreign fisheries taking place in waters around Newfoundland and Labrador. We are designated by DFO as an At-Sea Fisheries Observer supplier.

Seawatch is a privately-owned, Newfoundland and Labrador-based corporation.

Over our almost 40-year history, we have provided more than 250,000 days of observer coverage to vessels from 15 different nations operating in this region. In that time, we have provided unbiased fisheries data to DFO that is used for:

  • Science

  • Resource Management

  • Compliance and Deterrence

Seawatch currently maintains a corps of 25 highly dedicated and trained, DFO-certified Fishery Observers in the Newfoundland and Labrador fishing industry.

Since 1983, Seawatch has also provided Fishery Guardian services to DFO. We currently maintain a staff of 90 professional Fishery Guardians and provide almost 60,000 hours of coastal and inland enforcement services annually.

Our employees, and the quality of their work, determine the success of our company, and we treat them accordingly. We offer our employees a high level of technical and logistical support, as well as fair and competitive wages and benefits.
